RIO 110 is a pendant light in the form of a ring 110 cm across, hung vertically on two transparent cables. The ring profile is aluminium in beige, and the light leaves through a continuous opal channel running along its inner edge — it shines into the hoop rather than outwards. How much room it needs below the ceiling The suspension is adjustable and reaches 150 cm at most. Together with the 110 cm ring that comes to as much as 260 cm from the ceiling to the bottom of the fitting — compare that sum with your room height before settling on a drop. The rectangular canopy is 24 cm long and covers a standard junction box. A ring 110 cm across is considerably larger than the shade of an ordinary lamp over a table, so it works as an element filling a wall or the space above a longer piece of furniture rather than as task light on a worktop. The fitting weighs 3.2 kg. How much light it gives, and of what kind The built-in LED draws 47 W and delivers 5565 lm — a figure that corresponds to the main lighting of a room rather than to accent light. The 4000 K colour is neutral: a white with neither a yellow nor a blue cast. The manufacturer states a colour rendering index of Ra 98, close to the top of the scale. Under light like that the colours of fabric, wood and leather read almost as they do in daylight, which matters in a dressing room, at a mirror and over a worktop. The source cannot be replaced — it is built into the profile — and the manufacturer covers the fitting with a five-year warranty. Connection The fitting is protection class I, so it needs a protective conductor: the connection point in the ceiling has to be earthed. Its IP20 rating confines it to dry rooms.
