RIO 110 is a ceiling light shaped as an open ring 110 cm across, carried on a cylindrical canopy at the edge of that ring. The ring therefore tilts away from the ceiling instead of lying flat against it. The body is aluminium in a matt ochre red. How big it is and where it fits The ring itself is 110 cm in diameter, the whole fitting 115 cm at its widest and 16 cm deep. Compare that with the stretch of ceiling you have in mind: a ring this size needs clear surface around it for the tilt to read as deliberate rather than accidental. The fitting weighs 6.05 kg and fixes through the canopy straight to the ceiling. In a plasterboard ceiling that load calls for an anchor into the structure behind. RIO 110 is protection class I, so the installation needs a PE earth conductor. How much light it gives and of what kind The integrated LED module delivers 6224 lm and draws up to 47 W. An old 60 W incandescent bulb gave around 800 lm, so RIO 110 stands in for close to eight of them — this is the main light of a large room rather than an extra point of it. 3000 K is warm white, close to a traditional bulb. The light leaves downwards only, through a diffusing strip along the inner edge of the ring, so the ceiling above the fitting stays dark. A colour rendering index of Ra 93 is well above the usual Ra 80: food, fabric and wood read almost as they do in daylight. The module is not swapped like a bulb — it is built in permanently and comes with the fitting. Control and build Control by remote, by app, over DALI or by PUSH DIMM is offered by Thoro as separate made-to-order versions, not as equipment on the standard fitting.
