Loras is a six-arm chandelier from Quintiesse, designed by Generation Lighting (Feiss). A chrome ring 94.3 cm across hangs from cords running out of a central hub, and below it six tapered glass shades hang on black fabric cords. The glass is clear and shot through with fine air bubbles — the manufacturer calls it clear seeded glass. How much room it takes and how low it hangs The body itself is 94.3 cm across and 68.6 cm tall. The hanging height is set during installation by shortening the 152.4 cm chain: the total drop runs from 78.3 cm to 235 cm below the ceiling. Over a dining table with its top 75 cm off the floor, the bottom edge of the shades wants to sit 70–80 cm above it — that is what tells you how much chain to leave. The ceiling pan is 12.7 cm across and 3 cm high; compare that with the mark left by the previous fitting. The chandelier weighs 13.5 kg, so the ceiling fixing has to be rated for that load rather than being an ordinary hook for a light pendant. Bulbs are bought separately The fitting has six E27 sockets and the manufacturer gives 60 W as the maximum per lamp, so up to 360 W in total. No bulbs are supplied — six have to be bought. The photographs show decorative coiled-filament lamps that look well behind the clear glass, but that is the styling and not the contents of the box. Dimming is done entirely by the bulb: the manufacturer describes the fitting as compatible with dimmable lamps and it has no brightness control of its own. You therefore need lamps marked as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit. What it is made of, and what to do if a shade breaks The structure is steel finished in polished chrome and the shades are glass. The manufacturer lists the replacement shade under part number GS1059, so a broken pane means ordering a single part instead of replacing the whole chandelier. Class I requires an earth conductor to be connected. The manufacturer intends Loras for indoor rooms only and covers it with a two-year guarantee.Mostrar mais
