Thoro FINT is a pendant with a wide, shallow steel cone finished in matt ultramarine. The shade is 50 cm across and only 15 cm tall, and its whole underside forms a lit surface. The LED module is built in permanently. How big it is and where it belongs A 50 cm cone is a shade for a table over a metre wide, or for a kitchen island — above a narrow worktop it overhangs the edges. The drop is set with the cable, up to a maximum of 200 cm; over a table the cable is usually shortened so the lower rim sits 70–80 cm above the top, because the light then covers the whole surface and the cone does not block the view across it. The canopy is small: a 6 x 6 x 8 cm cylinder in the same ultramarine, with a black cable. The fitting weighs 1.9 kg, which keeps it within the capacity of an ordinary ceiling hook. How much light it gives and of what kind The built-in LED module draws at most 7.5 W and delivers 1070 lm — noticeably more than an old 60 W bulb, so the cone alone will light a table without any other fitting. 3000 K is warm white, still with a perceptible yellow cast, but closer to neutral than the light of a traditional bulb. Under the shade the manufacturer has fitted a honeycomb mesh. It limits glare, so you do not look straight into the source even when the fitting hangs low and sits in the eyeline of people at the table. The module is integral to the fitting — it cannot be replaced, but no bulb has to be bought either. Dimming and build A dimmable TRIAC driver is supplied with the light, so it can be dimmed without changing the electronics. The wall dimmer itself has to be bought separately, and at a 7.5 W load it should be a model rated for a low minimum load — otherwise the light starts to flicker at the lower settings. Shade, canopy and suspension are steel with an even matt, glare-free coating. FINT is made in Poland and carries a five-year manufacturer warranty; ultramarine is one of more than a dozen shades in the collection, so several fittings over one worktop can be combined in different colours.Mostrar mais
