EGIDA is a 166 cm floor lamp: a slender steel column in a gold finish on a round, profiled base, carrying a black fabric shade 45 cm across. Three faceted black crystal drops hang from a metal ring under the shade. How big it is and how much room it needs The lamp stands 166 cm tall and the shade is 45 cm wide — hold both figures against the free space beside an armchair or sofa, because the shade overhangs the base and needs clearance on every side. The whole fitting weighs 6.3 kg, so the mass sits in the base rather than in the thin column. The manufacturer specifies EGIDA for indoor use only. Three E27 sockets and what you have to buy Three E27 sockets sit inside the shade, each rated up to 15 W. Bulbs are not supplied, so three have to be bought — and since the weakest incandescent and halogen bulbs with an E27 base start at 25 W, in practice only LED bulbs meet the 15 W limit. The bulbs are replaceable, so you pick the light colour yourself and can change it later. Three points spread inside one shade give more light together than a typical single-socket floor lamp. Build: column, shade and crystals The frame is steel, the shade fabric over a PVC backing. The inside of the shade is finished in gold, so light bounced off it comes back down with a warmer tint than a white lining would give.
