Deco Lane is an outdoor lantern in its half version: the shape of a classic lantern cut lengthways, sitting flat against the wall. The body is cast aluminium painted red, the sides are closed by clear polycarbonate panels, and a domed top with a decorative finial finishes it off. Dimensions and mounting The lantern is 32.5 cm high, 19.3 cm wide and projects 11 cm from the wall. The back plate is larger than the body itself — 19 cm wide by 34 cm high — so mounting needs a flat piece of wall of those dimensions, with no downpipe or corner inside the plate's footprint. The fitting weighs 1 kg, and 1.5 kg boxed. It is electrical class II, double insulated, so it needs no earth conductor. It runs on 220-240 V mains. How much light it gives One E27 lamp of up to 60 W works inside. The lamp is not included, so brightness and colour are yours to choose; the manufacturer recommends a clear golf-ball LED of 4 W, 400 lm and 3000 K — warm light at roughly the brightness of an old 40 W bulb. The back panel inside is mirrored. It throws light forward instead of losing it into the surface against the wall, which on a wall-hugging fitting is a difference you see on the facade. The clear panels hide nothing, so the lamp itself is visible — worth bearing in mind when choosing between a decorative and a frosted bulb. The fitting works with dimmable lamps but has no dimming circuit of its own: you need a dimmable lamp and a dimmer in the installation. The golf-ball LED the manufacturer recommends is not itself dimmable. Working outdoors The manufacturer classes Deco Lane as an exterior fitting with IP44 protection — resistance to splashing water from any direction, but not to a pressurised jet.
