The ORBIT 5009 is a flush ceiling light built around a black metal ring carrying five white glass globes. The metalwork is finished in matt black and the globes are a uniform white. The fitting covers 68 × 68 cm and stands 23 cm deep. How big it is and how it mounts The light sits flat against the ceiling and takes up a 68 × 68 cm footprint — a figure worth comparing with the clear ceiling area above your table or in the middle of the room. At 23 cm deep it does not eat into headroom the way a pendant does, so it also works in rooms with low ceilings. The fitting weighs 4.3 kg. The manufacturer mounts it on a channel-shaped hanger fixed to the ceiling with 6 mm screws, and the holes are drilled with a 6 mm bit. Wall plugs and screws are not supplied, and neither are the bulbs, so both have to be chosen for your ceiling before installation. The globes go on last, by releasing the retaining wires. How much light it gives and which bulbs it takes The ORBIT 5009 has five E27 lampholders and accepts bulbs of up to 40 W each, so up to 200 W across the whole fitting. Bulbs are not included, which leaves the colour and brightness to you. For a living or dining room, 2700–3000 K is the usual choice — warm light with a slightly yellow cast. The white glass diffuses the light, so the bulb shines through the shade instead of glaring as a point. Five sources spread around the ring light the room from several directions rather than from a single point overhead. Because the fitting runs on replaceable bulbs, dimming depends on the bulb you fit and on a dimmer in the circuit. Materials and where it fits The frame is metal and the shades are glass — the manufacturer lists black as the dominant colour and white as the secondary one. The shape is plain: an undecorated ring and a repeated globe, with no crystal and no ornament, which puts it in the modern bracket. It is intended for living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, anywhere general light from the ceiling is needed.
