Boyer is a three-light semi-flush ceiling fitting 40 cm across, with three curved steel arms spiralling out of a round ceiling plate. Each arm ends in a cut clear glass shade with a woven surface texture, opening downwards. The metalwork is finished in antique brass. How much ceiling it takes The fitting is 40 cm in diameter and drops 13.5 cm below the ceiling. That shallow a drop means it fits where a pendant would be in the way — a hallway, a stairwell, a room with a low ceiling — and nobody walks into it. Compare the 40 cm diameter with the clear ceiling area where the fitting will go; the arms spread sideways, so it needs that whole circle. It weighs 1.2 kg, so it mounts to an ordinary ceiling box. This is a Class I fitting, which means the supply at the mounting point has to carry an earth conductor. Which lamps to buy There are three G9 sockets, each rated for an LED lamp of up to 5 W. No lamps are supplied, so you choose the colour and the brightness; the maker caps each socket at 5 W, 15 W for the whole fitting, and a higher-rated lamp does not belong in these shades. The fitting can be dimmed, but that takes a dimmer and a G9 lamp described as dimmable; ordinary LED capsules will not respond to one. The shades are clear and cut, so light does not leave them only downwards — the faceted glass breaks it into small reflections on the ceiling and walls. Construction The fitting is built from steel and glass. The arms are bent into an arc and finished with tapered lamp holders, and the ceiling plate is round and flat. Antique brass is a warm, muted tone, closer to aged brass than to bright gold, and together with the cut glass it is what gives this fitting its glamour character.
