Capitol Hill wall lamp - 2 light sources - Black Elstead
Capitol Hill is a two-light wall bracket in black-finished steel. A horizontal rod with ball finials sits on a round, stepped backplate; two candle sleeves rise from it and two looped arms run below. There is no shade, so the bulb stays in view. The model comes from the Kichler range, distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting. How big it is and how far it stands off the wall The fitting is 27 cm high and 24.7 cm wide, and projects 15.6 cm from the wall. That last figure is the one that decides matters in a narrow hallway or along a wall people walk past: of 80 cm of clear passage it takes about a fifth. The backplate is round and 12.7 cm across — that is how much of the wiring box, and of the marks left by a previous fitting, it will cover. The bracket itself weighs 0.83 kg, so it needs no fixing into structural framing. Which bulbs to buy for it The fitting takes two E14 lamps of up to 40 W each. Lamps are not included, and because the sleeves carry no shade the whole envelope is visible — the look of the bulb is part of the look of the fitting here, and candle envelopes with a visible filament suit it best. Elstead recommends a clear E14 LED candle lamp of 4 W and 400 lm at 3000 K. Two of those come to roughly 800 lm together, about as much as one old 60 W bulb — this is supplementary lighting rather than a room's main light. The fitting works with a dimmer, but dimming needs lamps described as dimmable. Construction and connection The body is steel finished in black, and the manufacturer specifies the fitting for interiors only. It is protection class I, so it is wired permanently into a 230 V installation with an earth conductor — it must not be fitted without earthing. The manufacturer gives a two-year guarantee.Show more
