Grant Small Outdoor Wall Lantern 1xE27 IP44 Quintiesse

Name: Grant Small Outdoor Wall Lantern 1xE27 IP44 Quintiesse
Brand: Quintiesse

Grant is a small outdoor wall lantern designed by Hinkley and sold under the Quintiesse name. The body is cast aluminium in a Burnished Bronze finish, a polished bronze with a warm brown-gold tone. The lantern takes the form of a glazed box with a roof and a carrying bail, set on a shaped wall bracket. Size and mounting The fitting is 349 mm tall and 184 mm wide, and it stands 207 mm out from the wall. That last figure is what decides whether the lantern fits beside a front door or at a narrow passage, so it is the one worth marking out on the wall before mounting. It weighs 2.35 kg and wires permanently into a 220-240 V supply. There is no lead and no plug, and the mounting height cannot be altered: the bracket sets the position. Which bulb to buy The fitting takes one E27 lamp rated up to 60 W, and no lamp is supplied, so one has to be bought separately. The maker recommends an Edison-style bulb, because the clear panes show the whole envelope and the filament rather than only the glow. The 60 W limit applies to a classic incandescent lamp; any LED lamp sits well under it. The fitting has no dimming circuit of its own, so dimming depends on a dimmable lamp and a dimmer in the installation. Where it may be mounted The maker intends Grant for outdoor use only, on the walls of a building. An IP44 rating means resistance to splashing water from any direction, which is to say rain falling at an angle. The fitting carries a three-year anti-corrosion guarantee, which excludes locations within five miles of the coastline. Right by the sea the conditions are harsher than the guarantee covers. The glass and what it does to the light The panes are clear glass with fine air bubbles through the body of it. The bubbles break the light unevenly, so the filament stays visible but its outline is broken up, and the wall beside the lantern picks up a fine pattern instead of an even patch.Εμφάνιση περισσότερων
