Hollis is a wall light from Hinkley, distributed by Elstead Lighting. The manufacturer describes it as a nod to the Art Deco lights of the 1920s: a black steel bar fixed horizontally to the wall, with two spherical glass shades below it, each banded by a black ring and topped by a cylindrical lampholder. Clear seeded glass — the bulb stays visible The shades are clear glass with air bubbles trapped in it. That settles the choice of bulb: through glass like this the whole light source is on show, so the shape and colour of the lamp are part of how the fitting looks. The two E14 sockets take lamps of at most 40 W each, and bulbs are not included. The fitting has no dimming circuit of its own — the manufacturer lists it as compatible with dimmable lamps, so dimming needs a dimmable bulb and a dimmer in the circuit. How much wall it takes The fitting is 38.1 cm wide, 23 cm high and projects 19.3 cm from the wall. That width is the figure to compare with the width of the mirror or cabinet it is to hang above. It weighs 1.7 kg, or 2.51 kg in its 44.5 × 22.9 × 38.7 cm box. IP44 and connection An IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction. In a bathroom that is enough outside the immediate shower zone and above a basin, but it is not protection against flooding or immersion. The manufacturer classes the fitting as interior — its data sheet reads "Interior / Bathroom" — so it is not for a facade or any other unsheltered position. The fitting runs on 220–240 V, 50 Hz and is safety class I: the protective earth conductor must be connected, so the connection point has to be earthed. Wiring it into a bathroom circuit is work for an electrician. The manufacturer gives a 2-year guarantee. Other Hollis versions The same two-light fitting is made in heritage brass under code HK-HOLLIS2-C-HB-BATH.
