Inline-Patronenrückschlagventile sind so konstruiert, dass sie den Durchfluss in eine Richtung begrenzen und einen niedrigen Öffnungsdruck liefern. Ideale Platzierung für das CV-3000 wäre auf der Abflussseite der Säule, um Nachsäulenderivatisierungsmittel daran zu hindern, zurückzufließen und die Säule zu vergiften, wenn die HPLC-Mobilphasenpumpe heruntergefahren werden würde.
