BORGEN is a wall light shaped as a solid black disc 30 cm across. The front face is closed and covered in a matt, slightly textured powder coating — there is no diffuser and no visible light source in it. The body is made of steel. How this fitting lights Light leaves it only through the gap running around the rim of the disc and falls on the wall behind, so a bright ring forms around the fitting. Looked at head-on, neither the diodes nor a bright spot are visible — the wall lights up, not the fitting. The LED module draws 20 W and delivers 2400 lumens, three times a former 60 W incandescent bulb. All of that light goes to the wall and returns reflected, so BORGEN builds a general brightening and emphasises the plane of the wall — it is not a reading light or a light for a worktop. The 3000 K colour is warm white and colour rendering is Ra 80. The source is built into the fitting and comes with it, but it cannot be replaced — once it is spent, the whole fitting is changed. How large it is and how it is mounted The disc is 30 cm across and projects only 3.5 cm from the wall, so the fitting reads as a flat element on the wall rather than a lamp reaching into the room. At that depth it can also go along a route people walk, where a deeper fitting would be in the way. The fitting weighs 1.2 kg. It is protection class I, so the box it connects to has to carry an earth conductor. An IP20 rating limits mounting to dry rooms.
