The Slim 100 W power supply belongs to the Shift magnetic system: it converts mains voltage into the 48 V DC that the fixtures clipped into the track run on. The housing is white, 17 x 20 mm in cross-section and 297 mm long, with 300 mm of lead coming out of one end. How many fixtures it will carry The unit is intended for the Shift magnetic system, that is for the tracks and fixtures of that family; the white housing matches the white track sections. The unit delivers 100 W at 48 V and 2100 mA. That figure is the ceiling for the whole track run: the combined wattage of the fixtures fitted to it must stay below. With 12 W fixtures that works out at eight light points, with 20 W fixtures at five. On the input side it takes 220-240 V AC, on the output side it gives 48 V DC. The manufacturer states that the unit does not work with a dimmer, so a dimmer placed in the 230 V line ahead of it will have no effect. Where it fits and how it is wired The 17 x 20 mm cross-section and 297 mm length are the figures to compare with the space set aside for the driver, and the 300 mm factory lead sets how far from that space the connection point may sit. The unit is protection class II, so no earth conductor is required. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only and gives the operating temperature range as -20 to +40 degrees Celsius: the lower limit covers unheated rooms, while the upper one is worth checking wherever the driver sits in a tight closed cavity that heat cannot leave.
