Sandvik Down 1742BL is a box-shaped outdoor wall light 13.5 cm tall, made of cast aluminium with a black powder coat (RAL 9005). It shines only downwards, through a window of clear safety glass in the underside of the housing. The light source is a built-in 8 W LED module, so nothing has to be bought separately to make it work.How much light, and what kindThe module produces 756 lm and 563 lm leave the fitting — the second figure is the one that tells you how much light actually reaches the area below. That is less than an old 60 W bulb (about 800 lm), but the whole output is concentrated in a 36° downward beam. Below the light you get a sharply cut-off pool of light on the wall and the ground, and ULOR 0% means nothing goes upwards — the wall above the fitting stays dark.3000 K is warm white: without the yellowish tint of 2700 K, yet clearly warmer than neutral 4000 K.LED module and dimmingThe LED module is sealed inside the fitting — it is not user-replaceable. The manufacturer allows replacement only by a professional service and offers a dedicated service kit for this model. It rates the module's life at over 50,000 hours.The fitting can be dimmed with a phase dimmer — the manufacturer approves both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) types, so you are not tied to one particular kind of dimmer.Installation and buildThe housing is 8 cm wide and projects 11 cm from the wall. It is fixed through two ø4.5 mm holes spaced 37 × 80 mm apart. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², or up to 3 × 1.5 mm² when several lights are looped together, so a row of fittings on one façade can be fed from a single run of cable. The EPDM cable gland seals a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter — worth comparing with the cable coming out of your wall. The fitting is protection class I, so it must be connected to the protective earth.IP65 means a dust-tight housing protected against water jets, so the light can hang on a façade without a canopy; IK08 stands for resistance to an impact of 5 J. The form is plain, without ornament — a minimalist body for a house façade or garden lighting.
