Argon KOS PLUS 7038 is a two-light fitting on a white rectangular bar 34 cm wide. Two spherical heads in white lacquer sit on the bar, each with a brass-plated ring around its GU10 reflector. The heads turn in yokes locked by a knurled screw, so both can be aimed independently. How big the fitting is and how it is fixed The base plate is 340 mm wide and the whole fitting 150 mm high and 100 mm deep — figures to compare with the spot above the shelf, picture or worktop that is to be lit. It weighs 0.8 kg. Argon allows mounting on the wall as well as the ceiling, so the same fitting can work as a directional wall light. No mounting kit is supplied — plugs and screws are chosen to suit the surface. Which lamps and what light The fitting takes two GU10 lamps straight off the 230 V mains. Bulbs are not included, and the manufacturer gives a maximum of 5 W per socket — a low ceiling worth watching, because a large share of the GU10 lamps on sale exceed it. The instruction sheet permits LED only; incandescent and halogen are crossed out on it. The instruction also states the largest permitted bulb envelope: 51 mm in diameter and 57 mm long. An ordinary GU10 reflector stays within that, while longer lamps with a bulky heatsink do not. Since the lamps are chosen separately, the colour and brightness of the light depend on them. Construction and variants The body is lacquered steel and the rings and small parts are brass-plated steel, which gives a gold accent on white without using solid brass. The fitting is for dry indoor spaces only.
