MARTIALO is a pendant built from a single flat ring 60 cm across that does not quite close — one end of the band passes alongside the other and leaves a visible gap. The outside of the ring is metal in matte gold; the inner edge is a white plastic diffuser turned towards the centre of the circle. How big it is and how high it hangs The ring measures 60 cm in diameter. Above a worktop 80–90 cm wide a shade of roughly 40 cm keeps the proportions, so this one calls for a distinctly wider table or island — over a narrow top it will read as oversized. Maximum suspension length is 150 cm and it can be shortened after installation. The ring hangs on three thin cables from a round canopy with ventilation slots: two hold it at the sides, the third runs down the middle to the bottom edge. How much light it gives The light source is built in permanently, so no bulb has to be bought — but none can be replaced once it wears out either. The module draws 36 W and puts out 4400 lm, roughly as much as five and a half former 60 W bulbs. That is enough for main lighting in a living room, not only for atmosphere. Colour temperature is 3000 K, a warm white close to the traditional incandescent bulb. The diffuser throws light into the ring and downwards, while the gold band screens the source from the outside. Dimming without a dimmer Brightness has three steps, switched through with an ordinary wall switch — each further click changes the level. No dimmer needs buying and no extra cable needs running; the wiring already in the wall is enough. What interior it suits The form is modern and free of ornament: one geometric band, with no shades, arms or crystals. Matte gold is a warmer finish than chrome and sits well with wood and pale walls.
