In this version of the Kichler Marant wall light the shade is milky opal glass: a smooth, angular cup that widens towards the top, set on an arched arm. The steel back plate and arm are finished in champagne bronze — a pale, warm metal close to gold. The fitting is distributed by Elstead Lighting. Which wall it suits The fitting measures 23.7 × 12.7 cm and projects 16.6 cm, so it fits beside the mirror over a single basin. It is rated IP44 — splashes from any direction do not harm it — and the manufacturer intends it for the bathroom; the room photo shows it beside a mirror. It works equally well in a hallway or dining room. It weighs 1.28 kg and is a Class I fitting (with earth conductor). What light it gives A 3 W G9 LED lamp is included and gives 300 lm at 3000 K. The opal glass hides the source completely and turns it into an evenly glowing matt form — soft light with no glare and no reflections on the wall. This is lighting for the mirror zone; general bathroom light needs a ceiling fitting. The lamp can be replaced with any G9 of up to 3 W. The fitting works with dimmable lamps, so with a dimmer the brightness can be adjusted.
