GES1041 is an outdoor wall light whose body is a half cylinder sitting flat against the wall. The housing is aluminium finished in anthracite grey. Two leaf-shaped cut-outs on the front are filled with a white methacrylate diffuser, and the same diffuser runs along the top and bottom edges of the fitting. Its size and how far it stands off the wall The fitting is 22 cm wide and 10.8 cm tall, and it projects 12 cm from the wall. That last figure is the one that matters in a narrow passage or beside a door: 12 cm is the measurement to compare against the clear width of the spot you have in mind. It weighs 0.65 kg on its own and 0.72 kg packed. At that weight the fixing is chosen to suit the wall material rather than the fitting. Where it may be mounted IP54 means protection against dust and against splashing water arriving from any direction. In practice that is the level at which a fitting can hang on an unsheltered wall and take rain — no eaves or canopy are required. The fitting is protection class I, so the installation has to bring an earth conductor to it. It runs on 220-240 V mains at 50/60 Hz. Which lamp it accepts There is one E27 lampholder with a permitted lamp power of up to 18 W. This is the same large screw thread most ordinary bulbs use, so light colour and brightness are yours to choose. An 18 W ceiling is far less restrictive with LED than it was with a filament: a former 60 W bulb corresponds to an LED of roughly 8-9 W today, and lighting an entrance usually takes less still. How it spreads the light The diffuser occupies the top and bottom edges, so the output leaves in two directions and lands on the wall above and below the fitting. That is the distribution typical of façade lighting: it emphasises the face of the wall rather than lighting the drive in front of it.
