Monaco is a mother-and-child floor lamp: one base carries two lights - an upper bowl that throws light at the ceiling, and a side arm holding a reading lamp. The frame is two interweaving twisted rods in an antique brass finish, rising from a circular base. The upper bowl is frosted glass; the reading head is a dome-shaped brass shade. Two lights and two knobs The upper bowl aims its output at the ceiling, which spreads it around the room - indirect light with no hard shadows. The arm points down onto a chair or a book, and its flexible gooseneck lets you change that aim without moving the lamp. Each of the two lights has its own dimmer knob; both sit on a flat plate on the stem at hand height. Uplight and reading lamp switch and dim independently of one another. Which lamps you have to buy The lamp is sold without light sources and needs two different ones. The upper bowl takes a linear R7s lamp 117 mm long, for which the manufacturer states a maximum of 230 W - that is the ceiling of the holder, not the wattage you have to buy. The reading lamp takes a clear G9 capsule, maximum 33 W. One condition applies to the G9 and is worth knowing before buying the lamp: the manufacturer requires a capsule of at least 20 W for the reading-lamp dimmer to work at all. A few-watt G9 LED does not reach that threshold. How much room it needs The lamp stands 182 cm tall - a height at which the bowl sits above a standing adult's head, so the light goes to the ceiling rather than into the eye. Base and arm fit inside a 32.5 x 50.5 cm rectangle, which is the space to leave beside an armchair or sofa. The whole thing weighs 8 kg. The supply flex is 1.8 m long with a gold braid. The fitting is safety class I, so it needs a connection with a protective earth conductor, and its IP20 rating makes it indoor-only.Meer tonen
