MONO is an aluminium LED profile for plasterboard construction, supplied here as a 1 m length in black lacquer with solid, non-perforated mounting wings. The profile is recessed between the boards and filled over, so once installed only the line of light shows, with no visible frame. Dimensions and the strip that fits Measured across the wings the extrusion spans 41.7 mm, and that is the width the build-up has to leave free. The body itself is 23.3 mm wide and 14.8 mm tall, of which 12 mm is the depth of the recess for the strip. The internal channel is 13.4 mm wide and the maker quotes LED strips up to 12 mm. It is worth measuring your own strip with its adhesive layer before pressing it in. How it is installed The profile is fixed straight to the framing or the wall between two plasterboard panels and finished with filler. Where the profile is meant to be filled over, the maker leaves it unlacquered, so the filler grips the aluminium better. Lengths can be joined: the MONO system has a straight connector, angled connectors at 90, 120 and 135 degrees, a 90-degree cross connector and a triple 3 × 120-degree one. They carry the line of light from a wall onto a ceiling and close it into a chosen shape. What you need to buy with it The profile comes on its own. The LED strip, the cover, the end caps and the driver are all separate purchases. BASIC covers come in PVC, PMMA and PC in clear, frosted, milky, opal and black, and clip in from above; the more diffuse the cover, the less the individual diodes show and the less light leaves the profile.
