The LUCE BLACK GOLD is a pendant lamp with a black metal cylinder shade 12 cm across, topped by a polished gold sleeve. How high it hangs and how much room it needs The maker states 120 cm, which is the maximum drop from the ceiling to the bottom edge of the shade; the cable is shortened during installation. Over a dining table the bottom edge usually sits 70–80 cm above the top, which with a 75 cm table works out at a ceiling of about 2.7 m. A lower ceiling means shortening the cable, a higher one may leave 120 cm short. The shade measures 12 cm across, a fraction of the width of an ordinary table, so one fitting lights only a small patch of it. The shade is open underneath and the bulb is visible from below, so its appearance matters — a decorative lamp with a visible filament suits it. The fitting has no built-in dimmer: adjusting the brightness needs a bulb marked as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit. Build and where it goes Frame and shade are both metal. Matt black sits against the glossy gold sleeve, the only bright part of the fitting. The maker classes it as a luminaire for indoor use.
