The s.luce Ring in its two-ring version is a pendant built from two illuminated rings, 120 and 100 cm across, hung one above the other on a shared axis from a single round ceiling canopy on steel wires. The rings are brushed white and the profile is unusually slim: 1.3 cm wide and 3.3 cm high. How big it is and how to hang it The outer ring measures 120 cm and the inner one 100 cm, so the fitting occupies more than a metre of ceiling — over a dining table it makes sense when the top is wider than the ring itself. The suspension height is adjustable and the maximum drop is 500 cm, which also allows the pendant to hang in a space open to the floor above. Over a table the drop is usually shortened so that the lower ring sits 70–80 cm above the top: the light then covers the whole surface and the ring does not block the view of anyone sitting opposite. With a 1.3 × 3.3 cm profile the structure is barely noticeable at that distance. What light it gives Both rings carry built-in LED modules drawing 96 W in total. The source cannot be replaced — once it is spent the whole luminaire is changed — and the manufacturer rates it at 25,000 hours and 15,000 switching cycles. At 3000 K the colour is warm white, close to a traditional filament lamp. Colour rendering is above Ra 95, so food, fabric and wood appear under this light almost as they do by day, which is exactly what counts above a table. The manufacturer describes the two-ring version as combining downward light with soft light reflected off the ceiling. Dimming and connection The luminaire can be dimmed, but only with a phase dimmer — leading or trailing edge. No dimmer is included, so it is a separate purchase and something to plan into the wiring if brightness control is to work. The pendant runs on 230 V and is protection class I, which means the installation needs an earth conductor.
