Roar is a round recessed downlight 8.5 cm across, in a white plastic housing with metal parts. The inner ring holding the LED tilts by 30°, so the light can be aimed sideways — at a wall, a picture or a staircase — instead of only straight down. How much light it gives and how to aim it The built-in LED produces 550 lm while drawing 7 W. That is close to an old 40 W incandescent bulb, so one fitting picks out a chosen spot, and lighting a whole room means fitting several. 3000 K is warm white and the beam is 40° — wider than a tight spotlight but still directional. Together with the 30° tilt this lets you set the pool of light after installation, without moving the fitting itself. Colour rendering is Ra 80, the level of ordinary domestic lighting; where a shade has to match exactly, sources from Ra 90 upwards are the ones to pick. Where it may be installed IP23 covers protection against water droplets falling at up to 60° from vertical, which is why the manufacturer intends it both for indoors — kitchens and hallways — and for outdoor use, for example in a soffit. It is not meant for a spot in direct rain, and Nordlux additionally marks it as not suitable for seaside locations. Mounting directly into thermal insulation is expressly permitted, so the fitting may go into an insulated ceiling with no clearance around the housing. The diameter is 8.5 cm and it weighs 0.067 kg. Supply, dimming and replacement The driver is a separate box on a 20 cm white cable and has to be tucked above the ceiling beside the fitting. The fittings can be wired in parallel, so several on one circuit do not each need their own supply. The build is double insulated (protection class II), so no earth conductor is needed; supply is 220–240 V. The LED is built in and cannot be replaced — the manufacturer states 30,000 operating hours. The supply cable, by contrast, is replaceable. The fitting works with a wall dimmer, so brightness is set from the installation rather than on the fitting itself.Mostra di più
