The Argon HAMPTON 8501 is a single-light ceiling fixture built as a cylinder: a clear, fluted glass tube seated in a brushed brass ceiling plate. A brass ring closes the glass at the bottom, held by visible screws. It belongs to the HAMPTON family, where the same pairing of fluted glass and brushed brass returns on wall lights, pendants and table lamps. How much ceiling space it takes The cylinder measures 100 mm across and 185 mm tall, of which 155 mm is the glass and 30 mm the ceiling plate. That plate is narrower than the glass at 80 mm, so it covers a standard Ø60 mm flush-mounted junction box but will not hide a wider opening left by a previous fixture. The fitting weighs 0.9 kg and mounts on a bracket screwed to the ceiling at two points. The wires meet a terminal block inside the plate, marked L, N and PE — the maker prints the protective-earth symbol on the fitting, so an earth conductor has to be present in the box. Which bulb fits The lampholder is E14 for 230 V, and no bulb is supplied. The installation card permits LED lamps only, up to 7 W, and limits the envelope to 35 mm in diameter and 96 mm in length. That rules out the standard pear shape and leaves candle or slim tubular lamps — worth checking before buying, because a larger envelope will not fit inside the glass. The glass is clear, so the bulb stays visible even with the light switched off. With a shade like this, choosing a decorative candle lamp or one with a visible filament changes the look far more than it would behind opal glass.
