The E159 outdoor wall light is an 8 cm aluminium cube finished in sandy white and closed with tempered glass. Light leaves it through two openings — one facing up, one facing down — and the width of both is set with movable shutters, so the mark on the wall can be a narrow stripe or a wide fan. How much light it gives and where it goes Two built-in LEDs drawing 6 W together (2 × 3 W) produce 480 lm at 3000 K, a warm white with a slightly yellow cast. That is roughly half of the 800 lm an old 60 W bulb used to give, split between two beams — this sconce draws the wall it hangs on rather than lighting a whole driveway. Colour rendering is Ra 80 and the manufacturer states a colour spread of SDCM below 3.7, so several fittings mounted side by side show the same shade of white. The luminaire cannot be dimmed and the LEDs cannot be replaced, because they are soldered in permanently. Their rated life is given as L70B50 30 000 h, about 27 years at three hours of use a day. Mounting on a finished wall The data sheet gives zero for both cutting hole and required depth: the fitting is mounted entirely on the surface, with no chasing and no recessed back box. It covers an 8 × 8 cm square of wall and projects 8.2 cm from it. It runs straight off 220–240 V mains at 50/60 Hz with the driver on board and a supply current of 700 mA, so no separate transformer is involved. It is a Class I fitting, which means the supply cable has to include an earth conductor. Standing up to the weather IP54 means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction, that is against rain driving onto a façade. IK04 describes a housing that withstands a 0.5 J impact. Painted aluminium and tempered glass are intended for year-round outdoor use, and the manufacturer backs the fitting with a three-year warranty.Mostra di più
