TAO 3 is a 74 cm garden post light with a tilted head shaped like a flattened ellipse. The upper shell of the head is black; its underside, turned towards the ground, is closed by a milky acrylic (PMMA) diffuser. The fluted tube is 6 cm across and stands on a round base. How big it is and where it stands At 74 cm the head sits roughly at tabletop height, so the light falls on the surface rather than into the eyes of anyone walking past. The head measures 35 cm across and 31 cm deep — compare that with the width of the path or bed the light is to stand beside. The base is 16 cm in diameter and its fixing holes sit on a 13.6 cm circle. On a paved surface it is bolted down directly; on a lawn or other unpaved ground the manufacturer expects it to be set on a foundation, which is bought separately. The light it gives and the bulb to choose The head takes a single E27 bulb and runs on 230 V. No bulb is supplied, so you choose colour and brightness yourself — 2700–3000 K is warm, slightly yellow light, 4000 K neutral white. The manufacturer recommends LED bulbs. The milky diffuser spreads the light instead of showing the bulb as a point, and the tilt of the head directs it downwards and forwards — onto the path, drive or terrace the light stands beside. Build and outdoor use The base is reinforced thermoplastic, the tube galvanized steel coated with thermoplastic, and the diffuser acrylic glass (PMMA). The housing is rated IP55, so it is dust-tight and withstands water jets — the light can stand in the open with no cover over it. The supply cable is not included. The manufacturer's instructions call for a double-insulated HAR cable under 11 mm in outside diameter with 0.5–2.5 mm² conductors, joined to the buried cable in a terminal block.
