HIRO is an aluminium LED profile made to be recessed into a plasterboard build-up and skimmed flush with its surface. This variant is white lacquered in RAL 9016, 1 m long, and has unperforated mounting wings; the catalogue number is 10-1631-10. One channel takes two LED strips laid side by side. Section dimensions and the space it needs The section spans 57,4 mm including the plastering wings — that is the width of the slot the build-up has to allow for. The profile body itself is 27,2 mm wide and 12,0 mm deep, the internal channel measures 24,6 mm and narrows to 20,8 mm between the catches that hold the cover. Those 20,8 mm are the figure to compare with the width of your own strip, measured with its adhesive layer: two 10 mm strips sit side by side, anything wider has to be offered up first. The profile is left unlacquered where it is meant to be plastered — bare aluminium holds the filler better than a lacquered surface. What has to be bought separately The profile is sold on its own. A complete run also needs the DOUBLE cover (PMMA or PC, in transparent, frozen, milky, frosted milky, opal or black), an LED strip, HIRO end caps — white, black, silver or grey — and a driver. The driver mounts outside the profile, so it needs its own place in the build-up. For the plastering stage the maker offers a separate DOUBLE masking strip, catalogue number 14-2029-11 in the one-metre version. Lengths, joining and operating conditions HIRO is produced in 1000, 2020 and 3000 mm lengths; this piece is the one-metre one, and non-standard sizes are made to order. Individual lengths cannot be joined into a single line, so a longer run is either several separate pieces with a visible gap or one piece cut to size. Without a cover and without sealing the profile is rated IP20, which restricts it to dry interiors.
