TROY 4283 is a floor lamp 154 cm tall. A wide shade shaped like a flattened diamond — beige, bound with a black band — sits on a slim black tube, and the whole thing stands on a round base. The tube is lacquered steel, and the joints and the small parts at the base and under the shade are brass-plated. How much room it takes The shade is 45 cm across and 20 cm deep, the base 30 cm — the base decides how much floor the lamp really occupies, but the wider shade is what you have to place around. With a 45 cm spread it is worth leaving clearance above the back of a sofa or beside an armchair so the shade does not rest against the furniture. The lamp stands 154 cm, so the lower edge of the shade sits roughly at the eye level of someone standing and well above the head of someone seated — the light goes sideways and downwards, out of a seated person's line of sight. The whole lamp weighs 5.9 kg, which on a 30 cm base makes it steady without being fixed down. Which bulb it needs There is one E27 socket, and the manufacturer gives a maximum of 15 W per light point. No bulb is supplied. At that ceiling only an LED makes sense: 15 W in incandescent technology gives around 90 lm, less than a night light, while a 15 W LED matches the old 100 W bulb. The shade is fabric and opaque at the sides, so light leaves mainly through the top and bottom — you choose the colour temperature yourself, and a living room is usually given 2700–3000 K, which is warm light. Assembly, supply and switching The lamp arrives in parts: the shade goes over the lampholder and is tightened with a nut until it stops turning. The mains lead is black and ends in a plug, with a sliding switch on the cord — so the lamp needs no work on the wiring, only a socket within the cable's reach. The fitting is protection class II, double insulated, and does not need an earthed socket. The manufacturer intends it for living areas.
