DALIA 8120 is a wall light built from two overlapping square aluminium plates. The gold-leafed plate fixes to the wall; in front of it, on a single central spigot, sits a matt black frame with a square cut-out. In the manufacturer's own photographs the same fitting appears once with the frame squared up to the gold plate and once turned by several dozen degrees. How much wall it takes up Both plates measure 22 × 22 cm and the fitting stands 6.3 cm off the wall — less than the depth of an ordinary shelf, so it stays out of the way even where people pass close to the wall. Turn the frame and its corners reach beyond the outline of the gold plate, making the composition wider than 22 cm. The fitting weighs 1.1 kg and sits on a round base 13.8 cm across, which covers the wall box. It is protection class I, so the connection point needs an earth conductor — without one it must not be wired in. What sort of light it gives The source is an integrated LED module of 24 W and 1680 lm — roughly two traditional 60 W bulbs, except spread across the wall rather than concentrated in one point. Light leaves through the gap between the plates and through the square opening in the frame, bouncing off the gold plate on the way. 3000 K is warm white, and colour rendering of Ra 80 is what decorative lighting normally offers. The LED module cannot be replaced, so the 30,000 operating hours and 30,000 on/off cycles the manufacturer quotes are the life of the whole fitting. It does not dim, and the driver is built in — there is no separate control gear to buy. Materials and where to put it Both plates are aluminium: the front one painted matt black, the rear one finished in gold leaf with an irregular texture. Switched on, it is the gold plate you see — through the cut-out and around the edges of the black frame. 1680 lm spread across a wall is supplementary light rather than room lighting, which is what puts it in a living room, beside a bed, or in a hallway.
