RYAN 9722-13 is a Paul Neuhaus outdoor wall light in an anthracite housing, made up of a wall plate and two rotating heads. Each head carries its own white cover along the edge and its own LED board. The housing is rated IP54, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction. Aiming the light Both heads turn independently on joints at the wall plate. Lined up on one axis they give the classic up-and-down arrangement: one cone of light runs up the facade, the other down onto the threshold or the steps. Swung sideways they fan out and light a band of wall instead of two narrow strips. That setting also changes the size of the fitting, which is why the manufacturer gives the dimensions as ranges: height 165 to 220 mm, width 65 to 140 mm, projection from the wall 91 to 111 mm. The largest of those figures are the ones to compare with the space left beside a door or window. The light it gives The fitting puts out 730 lm on 12 W. That is roughly what an old 60 W bulb gave, split into two beams, so it lights the entrance and a stretch of wall rather than a whole driveway. The LED boards themselves are rated at 700 lm each, but the closed IP54 covers hold part of that back, and 730 lm is the usable figure. At 3000 K the light is warm white, close to incandescent, and it is fixed: without external control the fitting changes neither colour nor brightness. Where it may be mounted An IP54 rating allows mounting outdoors with no shelter above it, on a facade, by an entrance or on a garage wall. The manufacturer also permits ceiling mounting, for instance under an eaves overhang. The fitting is protection class I and runs on 230 V, so an earth conductor has to be present in the box. It has no lead and no plug, and is wired permanently into the installation. Wall plate size and light source The wall plate measures 141 by 66 mm and stands 27 mm off the wall, and the whole fitting weighs 1.022 kg, so ordinary masonry plugs are enough.
