Ideal Lux URANO PL1 Small is an outdoor ceiling light in a cylindrical form: a turned aluminium body powder painted in matt anthracite and a round acrylic cover — satin in the middle, clear at the edge. It is 12 cm across and stands 7.5 cm off the surface it is fixed to. Where it can be mounted IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction. The manufacturer files the model with its outdoor fittings and intends it for a roofed terrace and a gazebo — places where the luminaire has cover above it. In the manufacturer's own styled photograph the same luminaire is fixed to a wall beside a front door. At 12 cm across and 7.5 cm deep, the fitting takes up roughly the ceiling area of a saucer and projects only a little below it. The mounting base is the same 12 cm across. The URANO collection also includes a larger version measuring 16 cm. Which bulb to buy The fitting has one GX53 socket for a bulb of up to 15 W, at 220–240 V. No bulb is included, so the colour and brightness of the light are yours to choose. GX53 is a flat two-pin base — the lamp is pushed in and turned, and its disc shape is what fits a housing this shallow. Wiring and build The fitting is electrical class I, so the mounting box has to carry an earth conductor. The manufacturer's instruction sheet states that installation is to be carried out by a qualified electrician. The body is turned from aluminium and powder painted, and the cover is acrylic. The manufacturer gives a 5-year warranty on the fitting. Code 168111 is the anthracite version; the same model is also produced in white.Show more
