The Conch Shell Tassel is a handmade decorative tassel: a bunch of twisted cords in a natural colour, gathered at the top into a wrapped knot with a loop, with small spiral shells hanging from their ends. The shells are genuine – they have a pearly lustre and shades ranging from cream to light orange. Size and hanging The tassel is 45 cm long and about 8 × 8 cm at its widest point, around the cluster of shells. The loop at the top lets you hang it from a hook, a door handle or a knob, and the manufacturer also suggests using it to tie back a curtain or draping it on a cushion. In one of the photos the tassel serves as a curtain tieback – at 45 cm long it wraps around a gathered curtain and leaves the shells hanging at the side. Handmade from a natural material The tassel is made by hand in Indonesia from natural shells, so the tone and surface of the individual shells differ from piece to piece – the tassel you receive will not be identical to the photo. Where it can hang and how to care for it The manufacturer intends the tassel for indoor use only. Shell is a delicate material: dust it with a soft, dry cloth, and keep it away from moisture, high humidity and chemical or abrasive cleaners, which can cause cracking or surface damage. That rules out the bathroom and spots next to where you cook, and on a curtain it is better not to hang it where the fabric touches a window that collects condensation.Show more
