Tip is a round recessed downlight in galvanized steel, made for outdoor positions. The ring is 8 cm across and 8.5 cm deep, and the moving insert tilts through 35°, so the light can be aimed away from the axis of the hole. The fitting weighs 0.24 kg. How it recesses and where Installation needs a 7.2 cm diameter hole; the visible 8 cm ring covers its edge. The manufacturer rules out mounting the fitting directly into insulation, so clear space has to be left behind the soffit board or panel. The 35° tilt lets you aim the beam at a wall, a door or a set of steps instead of straight down — the difference between lighting the floor and lighting what you are looking at. Nordlux allows parallel connection, so several fittings in one soffit can run off a shared supply. Bulb and supply The fitting takes one GU10 bulb of up to 35 W. The bulb is not supplied, which leaves the colour and brightness to you. Dimming is possible, but it needs a bulb marked as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit. Tip runs on 230 V and connects straight to the mains — no transformer is required, which shortens the list of things that have to fit above the ceiling. The fitting is Class II, meaning it is double insulated and needs no earth conductor. Conditions it works in, and the finish The IP23 rating means protection against solid objects from 12.5 mm and against raindrops falling at angles up to 60° from vertical. This is a fitting for covered positions — a soffit, a carport, a roofed terrace — not for a surface that meets rain driven horizontally. The body is hot-dip galvanized steel. Nordlux intends this material for seaside locations as well and gives a 15-year guarantee against corrosion that goes through the metal.
