Orb table lamp Elstead, glass and aged brass, white shade, E27

Name: Orb table lamp Elstead, glass and aged brass, white shade, E27
Brand: Elstead Lighting

Orb is a table lamp whose body is a clear glass sphere seated on a round aged-brass base. A brass tube runs up through the sphere to a lampholder hidden under the white faux-linen shade. The glass is a decorative element rather than a diffuser: the bulb sits above the sphere, inside the shade. How big it is and what it stands onThe lamp is 67 cm tall. Its widest point is the shade at 36 cm across, and that is the figure to compare with the surface it will stand on — the shade overhangs the base, so a little clearance is worth leaving at the edge of a top.It weighs 2.38 kg, and the underside of the brass base is faced with felt, as the detail photograph shows. In its 31 × 31 × 62 cm carton the whole thing weighs 2.64 kg.Which bulb, and how it is switchedThe lampholder is an E27 and takes one bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is supplied, so the colour and brightness are your choice. The manufacturer states that the fitting works with dimmable bulbs — the dimmer and a suitable bulb belong to the installation, because the lamp itself carries no control electronics. It is powered from a wall socket through a plug, and an inline switch sits on the cord, so the lamp is switched without reaching for the lampholder. The manufacturer classes it as protection class I, which means an earthed socket.BuildThe construction combines steel, glass and fabric: the metal parts carry an aged-brass finish with a matt sheen, the sphere is colourless glass, and the shade is sewn from white faux linen. The weave of the fabric is visible in the detail photograph. The shade and the glass are available separately as a spare part under number LS3017. The lamp is intended for indoor use only.Εμφάνιση περισσότερων
