Nixon is a two-light floor lamp standing 157 cm tall: a slim straight stem on a round base, two curved arms and one shared oval shade in a silk-look fabric in vintage white. The metalwork is bright nickel plated and a square K9 crystal element sits under each lampholder. How much room it takes and where to stand it The lamp is 157 cm high and the shade is an oval measuring 26 by 52 cm - noticeably wider one way than the other, so it sits best with its long side running along a sofa or armchair rather than across a walkway. When arranging furniture, keep the usual 80 cm of clear passage beside it, because the shade overhangs the base. The base is round and weighted and the lamp weighs 5.5 kg, which at this height gives it a steady footing on hard floors and on carpet alike. The flex is 2 m long and black, so the distance to the socket needs planning - an extension lead shows more here than under a low table lamp. What lamps it takes There are two E14 lampholders inside the shade. Endon rates them for LED lamps of up to 6 W each and supplies no bulbs, so colour and brightness are your choice. The holders take candle lamps, and 2700-3000 K gives warm light close to a traditional bulb. The 6 W ceiling per holder sets the limit of what the lamp can do: reading light beside a chair and light for a corner, not lighting for a whole room. The lamp has an in-line foot switch, so it is turned on with a foot at the base instead of reaching under the shade. It is a plain on/off switch with no brightness control - dimming is not provided for. Finish and connection The shade fabric has the satin sheen of faux silk and lets light out upwards as well as downwards, while the K9 crystal pieces under the holders scatter it in points. Bright nickel reads softer and greyer than chrome, so the lamp sits more easily alongside grey and white rooms than alongside brass.
