The Mantra TONIC 7880 is a set of eight pendant shades hung from a single rectangular ceiling plate measuring 50 × 30 cm. Each shade is a shallow glass cylinder on a slim metal tube, and the whole fitting hangs on eight black cables 1.8 m long. How big it is and how it goes up The ceiling plate covers a 50 × 30 cm rectangle and the fitting's overall height is at most 200 cm. Each shade is set separately by shortening its cable inside the plate, so the shades can hang level or staggered. Above a 75 cm dining table the lower rims usually sit 70–80 cm above the top — the light then covers the whole table and stays out of the eyes of anyone seated. The fitting weighs 7.1 kg. The manufacturer mounts it on a 300 mm steel bracket screwed to the ceiling at 210 mm centres, so on a plasterboard ceiling the bracket has to reach the supporting framework. It is a class I fitting, which means an earth conductor is required at the ceiling point. Eight GX53 lampholders, bulbs are your choice Every shade holds a GX53 lampholder and no bulbs are supplied. That leaves the colour and the brightness to you: for a dining room 2700–3000 K is the usual pick, a warm, slightly yellow light. Eight sources of roughly 800 lm each add up to the output of eight old 60 W bulbs. The fitting is not dimmable and there is no control gear in the ceiling plate, so a wall dimmer will do nothing. The supply is 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz. Four finishes in one set The eight shades are not identical. The manufacturer's assembly diagram assigns two shades to each of four finishes: chrome, copper, bronze and clear. The ceiling plate and the cables are black, which puts the metallic tubes against a dark background.
