The NEVIS 6983-48 is a round ceiling light 50 cm across, built from two discs: an outer one finished in gold leaf and an inner one in a rust-coloured patina. A wavy gap runs between them, and the built-in LED module sends its light out through it. The fitting is 8 cm deep and sits flush against the ceiling. How big it is and where it goes The disc measures 50 cm across and stands 8 cm off the surface — a figure to compare with the clear ceiling area where you plan to mount it. Nothing hangs down, so the room height is untouched. The manufacturer shows NEVIS on the ceiling and on the wall alike; the wavy cut-out works in either position and light leaves both sides of the disc. It weighs 3.884 kg, the number to set against the load the chosen fixing point will take. How much light NEVIS gives The manufacturer publishes two luminous flux figures and they differ by more than half. 5250 lm is the raw rating of the LED module; 3310 lm is what actually leaves the fitting. Plan the room around the second number: 3310 lm is roughly four old 60 W bulbs and is enough to serve as the main light. 3000 K is warm white — clearly warmer than daylight, but without the yellow cast of 2700 K. The light escapes indirectly through the gap between the discs, so it spreads across the ceiling and the wall instead of falling straight down. Dimming from the switch you already have The fitting uses Simply Dim: brightness changes steplessly from an ordinary wall switch, with no dimmer and no remote. The wiring does not have to be altered and no extra hardware is needed. A memory function stores the brightness last set and restores it after the fitting has been disconnected from the mains — when power returns it lights at the same level as before. Light source and build The LED module is built in permanently and comes with the fitting — there is no bulb to buy, and none you can change yourself; the module is a service replacement.
