axel is an aluminium LED profile from the LUMINES Design+ series, supplied here as a 1 m length. It has a rectangular 15,8 × 13,8 mm section and a raw finish — aluminium straight from the extrusion press, with no anodising and no paint, so the surface is matt and grey-silver. The manufacturer intends it for surface mounting and for suspension. Which LED strip fits inside The internal channel is 13,0 mm wide and the manufacturer states a maximum LED strip width of 12 mm. That is the first figure to check before ordering: a strip wider than 12 mm will not seat in this channel. On the outside the profile takes up a 15,8 mm wide band and stands 13,8 mm proud of the surface. The side walls are deliberately thin so that once fitted the profile reads as a line of light rather than as a batten — compare that figure with the furniture edge or the recess the profile is going into. What you have to buy alongside it The profile ships bare: no LED strip, no cover and no end caps. The nano Fractal cover — opal, clear or black, in polycarbonate — is a separate item from the same series, and so are the aluminium and plastic end caps, with or without a cable hole. In the axel system the driver sits outside the profile, so it needs a planned place in a cabinet or another concealed point of the installation. Without a cover the profile is not sealed and carries IP20 — an indoor component only. How it is mounted The manufacturer provides for four methods: screws, double-sided tape, the axel mounting bracket and a suspension kit, with the suspension hidden inside the profile body. The holes in the profile floor are countersunk, so the screw head sits flush with the floor and does not lift the LED strip. The base of the profile is thickened, which improves heat removal from the strip. The same profile is made in 2,02 m and 3 m lengths as well — over a longer worktop or a longer shelf it is worth setting those lengths against the run you want to light.Näytä lisää
