The MOD167PL-01B is a pendant lamp from the Basic colors series with a metal shade shaped as a wide, shallow cone 35 cm across. The outside of the cone is matt black, the inside white, and the fitting hangs from a thin black cable running out of a round canopy 10 cm in diameter. How big it is and how high it hangs The shade is 35 cm across and only 15.5 cm deep, so above an 80–90 cm wide table it keeps good proportions without blocking the view across the top. The maker gives 3 m of cable, and the fitting's overall height adjusts between 38 and 318 cm — the same lamp works tight under a low ceiling and over a stairwell or a room with a mezzanine. The lower edge of the cone is open, so anyone seated under the lamp sees the bulb. Over a table it is usually hung with the shade edge 70–80 cm above the top, where the light covers the whole surface and does not shine into the eyes of people sitting there. The whole fitting weighs 0.94 kg. Three ways to mount it The instruction for MOD167PL-01B shows three arrangements. The first is an ordinary drop straight from the ceiling box. In the second the cable runs sideways from the canopy to a separate hook, so the lamp hangs over the table while the box sits elsewhere; Maytoni notes for the series that this arrangement calls for extra ceiling hardware. The third is wall mounting: the fitting hangs from a bracket with a 200 mm reach, so it works as a wall light above an armchair or beside a bed. What bulb it takes You choose the light source yourself — the fitting takes one E27 lamp of up to 40 W. That limit is about power drawn, not brightness: an LED lamp within those 40 W gives many times the light of the old filament bulb of the same rating. The white inside of the shade throws the light downwards, onto the surface below. Maytoni states the fitting is not dimmable, so brightness control rests entirely on a dimmable bulb and a dimmer.
